New Sky call centre in Sheffield to create 500 jobs

A new call centre that is being opened in Sheffield should see around 500 jobs created for the local community. The new customer service centre is being opened by Sky and will be their seventh such centre in the UK.

Currently Sky has call centres in Leeds, Stockport, Shepton Mallet, Dunfermline, Livingston and Uddingston. But with more demand for Sky products, the company are looking to expand across the UK and are hoping to create a total of 1,500 new jobs. The company currently employ over 16,000 people in the UK and the new call centre in Sheffield will be a real boost to the local economy.

The director of Sky Customer Contact Centres, Chris Stylianou stated:

“We’re very pleased to be coming to Sheffield. It is an exciting time for us as a business; we are performing well, provide excellent customer service and as a result need more of the right people to work with us.

“We have picked Sheffield for its pool of talented prospective employees and its good transport links.”

Paul Blomfield, Sheffield Central MP commented:

“I’m delighted that Sky is investing in Sheffield’s economy through the creation of its new customer centre and welcome the 500 new jobs it will bring to the city. This will be a very timely boost to the local economy.”
