BA Call Centre Worker Charged With Terror Offences |
A British man who worked in a BA
call centre
has been charged with preparing an act of terrorism or assisting another person to commit and act of terrorism. It is understood that the offences took place between April 2006 and February this year.
Rajib Karim, 30, from Newcastle was also charged with other offences which included preparing acts of terrorism abroad, and sending money to others knowing or having reasonable cause to suspect that it would or might be used for the purposes of terrorism.
Mr Karim was arrested in a joint operation between the Met's Counter Terrorism Command and the North East Counter Terrorism Unit, who swooped on a BA call centre in Newcastle on the 25th February.
Karim was on of 800 staff working in BA's two UK-based call centres dealing with passenger bookings.
Three men who were arrested in Slough last week in connection with the same inquiry were later released without charge.
